Shades of Taupe.

bag | Free People

Hello hello! What is taupe exactly? (pronounced “tope”) Is it gray or is it beige? I’m sure many of you could care less, but as an interior decorator, it’s pretty crucial to know the difference. If I could define it, I’d say it would be the love child of gray and beige, think elephant colored.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good work bag and finally stumbled across this taupe Free People cross body. It fits my daily work paraphernalia perfectly without being overly bulky. Yep, I’m that girl at work who carries her life in her bag, ain’t nothing wrong with being prepared! And on top of it being both chic and functional, it was less than $100! The quality and the price tag just made it that much better.
So I guess we’re just skipping Spring this year and starting Summer early, about 3 months early. The recent rise in temp has put in me in a casual state of mind, and I’ve been reaching for my boyfriend jeans. So in an attempt to make my outfit more work appropriate, I added this jacket with leather taupe paneling. For added taupe continuity, I threw on my metallic heels. Have a great weekend! :)

Shaggy.

Hello hello! It's barely February, and the weather is already heating up! I guess Mr. Groundhog's weather forecast means nothing in SoCal. I've still got so many winter outfits I want to share with you, but I have to admit that the weather has been too nice to disagree with. This past weekend was especially nice since I spent a lot of time outside in the sun with my boyfriend's new lab puppy. :) Seriously the most adorable pup ever... can't even handle. But we took a quick break from little Duke to snap some pics. I'm sure you've noticed by now my fur obsession, but this is something completely different. This is shag

With the impending retreat of winter, comes the sad day when I have to put my furs away. But not quite yet! It still gets a little chilly at night, so I mixed what could easily be a summer look with this shaggy white jacket. Now that I look back at it, the outfit does remind me a little of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. (Let's just say it's my interpretation.) It's basically loungewear I dressed up with a statement necklace and pair of thigh highs, so it was extremely comfortable but a fun #OOTN for barhopping. Sometimes it's better to be underdressed, but with a twist.

Plaid, Tartan?

top Living Doll / jeans Free People / jacket Blank NYC / booties Rosegold (similar)

Hello hello! So which is it? Plaid or tartan? I honestly can't tell. All I know is that I love this print in the colder months and that I've found a fun new way to wear it. This top is so incredibly soft and so comfortable, I've been trying to find any occasion to wear it. The length is a little tricky, but the slits on the side keep it from looking too baggy and hobo-chic. I paired it with skinny jeans and a structured jacket to balance out the bagginess of it. Now it's time to find a new way to wear it unbuttoned! :)

Speckled.

coat Zara / top H&M / pants Uniqlo / booties Chinese Laundry / clutch Vince Camuto

Hello hello! I’ve recently been obsessed with this speckled gray coat I got on sale from Zara. There really isn't much of a need for one out here in SoCal, but this one is light enough to wear without overheating. I kept the look simple in my choices of pieces, and left the details in the textures like the jacquard tee. I kept the speckled theme with my current favorite booties! They've got a chunky heel make them so easy to wear. To add more texture, I topped off the look with a fun snake skin print clutch!

Wrapped Up.

dress Lulu's / saddle bag DailyLook / booties RoseGold (similar)

Hello hello! Woop woop, first post of 2015! And I'm kicking it off with this new wrap dress I just picked up from Lulu's. Wrap dresses are a staple that belongs in every girl's closet. Not only are they super flattering on almost every body type, but they're also so easy to dress up or down. I took advantage of the lower neckline to show off some off my dainty dangles. The weather  has been quite warm these past couple days, but I made this maxi version a little more cold weather appropriate with some black suede booties. What's your favorite way to wear a wrap dress?

NYE 2014

dress Lulu's / jacket Blank NYC / necklace Lulu's

Hello hello! There are only about 37 hours left of 2014... I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by! I don’t know about you guys, but 2014 has been a very interesting year for me, filled with a lot of personal growth, to say the least. As much as I am grateful for everything that has happened this year, I am seriously ready to start fresh. But first, one last party to celebrate 2014 and to ring in 2015!

Of course, NYE means metallics and sequins, so I went with this gorgeous silver maxi. I don’t have any fancy plans, so I dressed down the dress with my favorite moto jacket. That and a killer pair of pink moto heels.
Since most of my posts this year were in front of this white brick wall, I figured it was only appropriate to finish it off here too. You can bet that one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be a little more proactive in finding more backdrops. ;) I hope you all have had an amazing year and are gearing up for another awesome one! :)

Patti

Home for the Holidays | Fuzzy Wuzzy

Target onesie / BP beanie / sweater (similar)

Hello hello! With winter weather comes super cozy and comfy loungewear, and recently I've been obsessed with this ultra soft onesie I picked up at Target for an ugly sweater party. It's got a fair isle-esque print with cute little foxes and is absolutely perfect for just lazing around the house. For extra cuddly points, I threw on my favorite creme sweater and a furry beanie. I also recently picked up Ellen DeGeneres' new book, and it is hilarious. All you need is that, a warm cup of tea or cocoa, and nice soft blanket for a perfect lazy day.
