Daily Beauty

Hello hello! I haven't done a beauty post in a while, so I thought I'd share my daily beauty products. Up until about a year ago, I was a total baby about make up. I just used drugstore products and honestly couldn't bring myself to dish out for the more high end products. It wasn't until my sister, Kelly, introduced me to YouTube makeup gurus like Michelle Phan that I saw the clear advantages of investing. I started to look at cosmetics as an art, my face was the canvas and since we're only given one, I realized I better be more careful about the gunk I was loading onto it. 

 So you can bet the shopaholic in me took the reins, and I went a full out beauty frenzy. My obsession has definitely toned down since the start, and I've learned to mix both ends of the beauty spectrum. So currently, these are the products I use on a daily basis, in addition to a skin care regimen of course. But that'll come in a later post. :)

In application sequence:

Boo Boo Concealer  I use this for my under eye circles and minor blemishes. It doesn't have super full coverage so it's good for daily use. 

Sonia Kashuk Creme Bronzer  I highly recommend this if you're looking to try a creme bronzer. I apply it with my ring finger before Hoola to get a subtle contour and bronze.

Benefit Hoola  The cult classic matte bronzer. Need I say more?

BAREMINERALS Mineral Veil  My all time favorite finishing powder, it mattes my face perfectly, but still leaves a subtle sheen.

Lancôme Blush  My at the moment favorite! 

Pixi Primer  I'd rate the holding power at about a 6, not really effective for dramatic eye makeup, but good enough for day to day use. 

Nyx Eyebrow Pencil  I'm not big on a very defined brow, so I love how the brush on the end gives my brows a more natural look.

Pixi Eyebrow Gel  I was pretty amazed the first time I tried eyebrow gel, and I haven't looked back since! 

Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Pallet  OBSESSED with Nooner. I use it basically every day with a little Factory in the crease. Blackheart to line my upper waterline. Can't stress the importance of lining the upper lash line, it's the secret to fuller looking lashes.

Benefit Gel Liner  Not a liner I recommend for beginners just because it's a little tricky to get used to. You have to play around with it to see what works for you, but I love how black the gel is. 

Diorshow Lash Primer  Don't know if it's just placebo, but I feel like this keeps my lashes from falling out.

Maybelline Falsies & Volume Express  My favorite combo of mascaras. I use waterproof falsies to help the curl last all day!

Mad for Plaid.

Hello hello! Lately I've found myself mad for plaid.. scarves! For some reason, I'm super picky about my scarves and have been searching high and low for the right one. It has to perfectly chunky, soft, and just the right color. On my spending spree this past weekend, I happened across this beautiful plaid scarf at H&M and I loved it so much I bought it in two colors! It's so soft and warm, I can't help but feel cozy inside and just in time for fall too. Since this outfit was more neutral, I went with the brighter and more autumnal of the two for a pop of fall color. Paired it with my current favorite booties and felt instantly in the season, all I need is my PSL and I'm good to go!

Hello hello! I recently picked up this iridescent top handle bag at Aldo. It was love at first sight and I made a beeline for it as soon as I stepped into the store! Earlier that day, I bought this awesome pyrite necklace so it didn't take much persuasion for me to make the jump. I thought the iridescence would add a pop to any outfit so I paired my shiny new friends to a more classic outfit. The soft silkiness of this black trench tied the accessories with this classic houndstooth print trouser. I already know I'll be looking for a million ways to style it!

Hello hello! Hope you guys enjoyed that last post. I wanted to try something a little more editorial-like, so I thought Halloween would be the perfect time to try it! I'm honestly pretty sick of those standard costumes that cost way too much, and are waay too basic. I thought that the Antigua inspired dress with all its black lace would be a perfect witchy costume. 

So onto this next outfit! It's still not quite sweater weather in SoCal, but I honestly can't wait anymore. I got a jump start and paired this baggy knit sweater with a black trumpet hem skirt. I love playing with proportions and the trumpet hem perfectly peeks out under the sweater. I threw on a pair of taupe booties to keep it from looking too sloppy and to add a little height. ;) Can't wait to actually wear this sweater with colder weather looks!

Leveled Layers.

Hello hello and happy Friday! Don't know if it's just me, but after Song of Style showed up at the BCBG show in her layered look, I've been seeing it everywhere. I can't say I really liked it at first even though I thought it looked great on Aimee, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Turns out, it kind of grew on me. There's just something about the cascading of layers that takes it to a whole different level. Rather than just getting little peeks of the textures and prints you're getting a full on waterfall. Cher Horowitz, was the first that I know of to take layering to this extreme and you can never go wrong with a Clueless inspired outfit. "As if!!" Stay tuned because I have a Halloween series coming your way!

Hello hello! There seems to be an ongoing menswear-inspired trend in my posts lately, so I thought I'd top it off with my twist on the classic tuxedo look. If you've been following me, you might've already noticed, and if you don't, you'll soon see that I love mixing feminine and masculine pieces. There's something about the contrast that's really intriguing and it may or may not be norm core inspired. It definitely has something to do with the dainty and delicate being accentuated when mixed with the crisper masculine pieces. But as much as I love dressing in tomboyish outfits, I can't wait for the cozy sweater weather! You'll be sure to see softer looks in the upcoming weeks.
