Kauapea

The last time I visited Kauai with my family, we stumbled across the most serene white sand beach we'd ever seen. We were adventuring around in our Jeep, looking for a waterfall and just discovered this isolated little cove with absolutely no people. It's the kind of beach you imagine when you think of Hawaii, but the reality of it is that they're mostly tourist packed. It just so happened that the beach had a name, Kauapea, or Secret Beach.
So of course, we tried to find it again! And like with most things that you stumble upon, it was impossible to find. Turns out, there are several beaches along that stretch of coast all named Secret Beach, but they weren't our Secret Beach. After 3 hours of driving back in forth, we just ended up hanging out at another beach, still beautiful though. The sceneries we were driving in were absolutely gorgeous. Kauai is definitely the most lush place I've ever been; there were endless tree tunnels and beautiful fields backed by greener mountains.
I went with standard beach day attire: a casual blue printed dress paired with some casual black sandals. Accessories are always a must for me, so I stacked on the stone bracelets and a beaded necklace (nothing that would get water damage).

What's In My Glam Bag?! | July 2014

BareMinerals | 5-In-1 BB Cream Shadow (Elegant Taupe) $6
Hang Ten | Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08 $1.50
Lord & Berry | Kajal Stick (Black Silk)
Marrakesh Hair Care | Marrakesh Endz $6
wHet | Nail Polish (Facetious) $9
TOTAL $22.50+
This month's Glam Bag was filled with all kinds of summertime goodies! Nothing says summer like neon pink. The first thing to catch my eye was the Marrakesh split end mender. I'm sure all you ladies can relate to the split end disaster that comes with that summertime sunshine. On top of making your hair buttery soft, the oil makes you smell like tropical paradise.
I haven't tried the bareMinerals shadow yet, but I always have faith in their products. Although, I don't really see the demand for BB cream shadow.
As for the tanning oil, I've only recently heard of the brand and can't wait to try it out! After my vacay in Kauai, I've got a good bronze going so I don't want to overdo it. But I'll definitely keep it in mind once the summer starts to end and I want that last bronze kick to last me through the fall.
I've never heard of wHet nail polish, but blue has been a summer fave for me and I foresee that I'll be putting this polish to good use!
Last and definitely least, the liner. I don't have anything against this specific product, but I am starting to get sick of these liners. Can't use these samples fast enough and they just keep coming! At least throw me a different color, other than black. A girl can only tolerate so many "silky black, glam blacks midnight" kohl liners.

Laule'a

Laule'a. Peaceful and happy. Those were my immediate thoughts as soon as I landed on Kauai. We spent our first night at Kauai Beach Resort, so it was only fitting that I throw on some comfy resort attire. Given the tropical humidity that hit the moment I stepped outside, loose fitting clothes were a must! Fitted clothes = sweat stains, and no one wants to see that. So I went with a casual peasant top and paired it with denim shorts and my fave sandals. That first day was spent decompressing and slowing down to island time, so it was the perfect outfit for some resort lounging.

Aloha Kauai

For the past week, I've been vacationing with my family in gorgeous Kauai. And I have to say that it is by far my favorite island. It's called the Garden Island, and for good reason too! The whole island is so lush and green and tunnels of trees line the highways. It truly is an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and I can't get over how beautiful the landscape is. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt and the resort itself has its own relaxing charm. These are just a few of the thousand pictures that I took, so look forward to more!

Casual Comfort

So recently, I've become mildly obsessed with this re-emerging Birkenstock trend. Comfortable, chunky sandals have somehow snuck back into the limelight to join their sleeker gladiator cousins. At first, I was hesitant about the trend, not truly understanding the craze behind it until I tried it for myself. I deviated from the classic Birkenstock look, and opted for these Sam Edelman sandals. As soon as I slipped them on, I understood. They were so comfortable, I almost felt guilty! How could something so comfortable and unorthodox be one of the hottest summer trends? Regardless, I found myself wearing them every opportunity I got, I even dressed my work outfits around them. I definitely recommend this trend if you haven't already tried it.

Summer Brights

Top: Lush | Skort: F21 | Flats: Breckelle's | Necklace: Threadsence | Bag: Steve Madden
There's nothing more I enjoy in the summertime than the warm sunshine! It puts me in such a great mood, and inspired me to throw on a bright outfit to show off my new bronze. I've been loving white outfit combos and I thought pairing this cute Tiffany blue top with lace detailing made for a sweet little ensemble.

Be sure to check out Threadsence! They're having their semi-annual sale, and have SUCH amazing steals!
